Responding to the world's most critical development challenges and learning from the success & failure of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), 193 world leaders made this historic promise at the United Nations' annual summit in 2015 when they agreed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 17 SDGs set a comprehensive road map with 169 measurable targets and clear deadlines for improving the lives of the world's poorest people.
With a visible focus on sustainability, this global development agenda strives to contribute to a fairer, cleaner, greener, and a more equitable world, bridging different divides that leave millions on the receiving end.
These 17 SDGs agreed by world leaders focus the following key targets to be achieved by 2030.
Sharing the larger-than-life vision envisaged in the UN 2030 Development Agenda, this creatively conceived campaign is an innovative way of reaching out to the people across the globe in support of UN SDGs, also known as the global goals.
It encourages and inspires people worldwide to light candles and, thus, register their commitment as socially responsible global citizens of change.
Needless to emphasize that the tradition of lighting candles is rooted in human history. Lighting a candle continues to remain a metaphor of hope, peace, love, light, and prosperity. This call to action symbolizes solidarity with the world's deprived millions.
Remember! This very small act can and will make a huge difference in the lives of the world's poorest millions. Your candle on this website shall light up the way towards a socio-political system that is pro-poor and a world that is more equal. You are welcome on board and invited to light your candle now!
“This is a sacred cause. The fight against global poverty and human suffering is a moral imperative!”

As a trainer and facilitator, leadership is his favourite forte, and he is at his best when he challenges the stereotypical assumptions of public policy, governance, and socio-economic development at the grass-root level.
As a Ph.D. scholar and a socially responsible global citizen of change, he has worked very closely with the Sustainability Team of the University of Leicester, the United Kingdom since his enrollment in 2022. In addition to attending many other professional training courses offered on campus, he successfully completed two-day intensive training on Carbon Literacy as the University remains strongly committed to the UN Development Agenda 2030.
Inspired by these learnings, he has also founded a vibrant platform, Sustainable Leadership Forum (SLF), for promoting awareness and advocacy among university students about the UN SDGs.
Thus, pursuing passionately his dreams of a world that is more sustainable, pro-poor, and far more equal, he has creatively conceived this unique awareness and advocacy campaign that seeks to garner international support and create global awareness about the UN SDGs.
As the dream project of Mr. Asad's fertile mind, the SDGs Candle Campaign is the first of its kind digital intervention that has the potential to cross borders in no time and, thereby, create an enduring impact by spreading the light of peace, hope, love, and life.

What we do
The SDGs Candle Campaign seeks to sensitize people about the miseries of the growing number of millions world-wide and, thus, contribute to the creation of a world that is cleaner, greener, sustainable, and more equal.
To launch a global movement through this advocacy campaign wherein the greatest number of people across the world are made aware of the scope and significance of the UN SDGs in the shortest possible time, and in the process light a candle of hope and life in their hearts, minds, and souls.
What we do
Since time immemorial, people have lit candles for the pursuit of noble causes. In many traditions, different cultures, and religions, lighting candles has been seen as a sacred action carrying spiritual and moral bearings. It expresses far more than words can. It has the power to influence, and, thus, inspire people to take meaningful actions for the collective good of mankind.
Building on this rich tradition rooted in history and human psyche, the SDGs Candle Campaign seeks to raise awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and, thereby, invite people from across the world to join this global movement in support of SDGs.
This, indeed, is a defining moment that beckons people to act and light a candle for those hapless millions whose life is a trail of tears, misery, pain, and woe and who are groping in the darkness compounded by poverty, hunger, illiteracy, disease, gender disparity, social exclusion, and climate and economic injustice.
With these noble aspirations and great expectations, you are invited to light a candle and contribute to this selfless cause that seeks to help achieve the UN SDGs by 2030 as espoused in the historic declaration signed by the 193 world leaders at UN in September 2015 and pressed into practice on January 01, 2016.
