Light a candle

Privacy

Your data, in plain words

A short note on what happens to the details you share with us.

What we collect

When you light a candle: your name, your email address, your country and, if you choose one, the goal you dedicate your candle to.

When you send a message: your name, email address and message.

What is public

Your name and country appear on the candle wall, the leaderboards and the map. If you tick “Light anonymously”, the wall shows “Anonymous” instead of your name.

What stays private

Your email address is never shown on the site and never returned by any public page or service.

To count your candles we store a scrambled code made from your email (a one-way hash), not the address itself. We only keep your actual email address if you tick “Send me occasional campaign updates”.

Why we need your email

To keep the limit of 5 candles per person each month, to send you a thank-you message when you light a candle, and, only if you ask, to send occasional campaign updates.

Who helps us

Candle data and messages are stored with Supabase, our database provider. Emails are sent through Resend. Our website is hosted by Vercel.

We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.

Your choices

To stop updates, reply “unsubscribe” to any update or write to us.

To have your candles and details deleted, email us from the address you used and we will remove them.
